Solstice Celebration at Teatro Luna Azul
We have something very special planned for Winter Solstice on Friday December 22/2017. Music, Dance, Storytelling, Drums… and more.
Come and enjoy a special Solstice show that combines ancient and modern myths, weaving a story of our origins through the four ages as told through the earth, the air, the water and the sun.
The stories will be told through masks, music and dance.
The music includes Afro-Latino music from Cuba, Brazil & Peru. Featuring traditional Latin beats such as Cumbia, Rhumba, Samba, as well as lively Jarocho music from Vera Cruz, which are all fusions of african rhythms with the stringed instruments of Spain, expressed through the indigenous cultures of Mexico and Latin America..
Dancers will be performing the traditional Campesino dance ‘Zapatero‘ – a Mexican ‘tap’ dance that comes from Flamenco. As well as African dancing and drumming.
Performed by the multi-talented ‘Son Semilla’ – playing traditional Cuban guitars – Jarana, as well as piano, saxaphone, drums. Singing both traditional and original songs.
